I purchased a trailer full of odds and ends from a custom furniture maker's shop. One of the pieces of wood was a natural edge slab of mesquite. It was only 7/8" thick including all of the saw marks, so I knew that it wasn't going to be a table! After some time on the table saw, I had 168 pieces of mesquite and a circle of curly maple for the floating bottom.

The vase is 11" tall x 7.5" wide with 3/8" walls. After being sanded through 400 grit, it was finished with 2 coats of Antique Oil . Before I put the finish on, it was actually kind of hard to where the seams were and I had to knock two rings off during the build when I misaligned them. :o

Comments and/or critiques are welcome and thanks for looking. :)

Oh man, that's nice! I love the form, and I really like the use of a single wood... Especially something beautiful like mesquite! Well done, sir!

That form can't be beat and the grain orientation of the segments is just great.

Isn't that one of the joys of segmenting? Finding a slab of wood and making it into a lovely vase? That mesquite sure looks nice, and the joints look super too. Good 'un
