Hi Joe,
Great video!!! You obviously put in a great deal of time with this and I look forward to your next installment with the dyes! This is probably the best video I have seen on Hollow Forms and your style is very relaxed and fun to watch.

Please be sure to let us know when that video is available.

Dear god...I can't stop watching turning videos. Why are you people doing this to me? Is this how it begins? I just got decent at doing square and now...ROUND?!

Great video Joe. I enjoyed it very much!

Joe, this is an outstanding video! Information was great and production quality was top notch. Length was spot on- long enough to get a good understanding without getting bogged down in the mundane (no one really wants to spend too much time watching the demonstrator sand!) This video was especially useful for me as this is precisely where I want to go with my turning and I actually ordered the exact same Trent Bosch hollowing tools yesterday! Really looking forward to your next installment. Please be sure to post on this forum when it is ready for viewing. Thanks again for you willingness to share your skills.

Good video..........production quality in sound and close up shots were very good. I can actually hear you well without a lot of other background noise cluttering up the sound, or without echo. Good stuff, Joe!

Joe,

Wonderful vid, great presentation, relaxed manner, etc. And to echo Bob's sentiment, thanks for not showing us how to sand..................... Sound was excellent, and especially liked your lathe..............:)

As a beginning HF'er, this was like manna.................some great tips here, especially about the foot. I have had that explained to me, but until I saw it, it didn't click. Headed into the shop this afternoon to put some of this to use.

I appreciate your time, one of our most valuable commodities. A labor of love, as they say.

Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing. I definitely learned several things about HF’s. I have been turning mine very close to the tenon so I have to turn it around to clean up the end. I like your way much better. Thanks again.

Gotta agree with rest of folks...you've got a good comfortable style and fluid technique. You really hit on little details that alot of videos often don't ... well done!

Good job Joe. The length is perfect for you tube and you're easy and enjoyable to watch. I even liked the background music. Do more, we'll watch and cheer you on.

Joe, for a novice turner like me this video is perfect and based on the comments I have read above, it is even great by the seasoned turners' standards. Thanks a bunch.

Great video Joe, thanks for posting this. Also, being a tool junkie I have to ask, what brand is that Auto chisel you used to carve the tennon off the bottom? Never seen one of those before, looks interesting...

nice work joe
especially appreciated the concise and to the point narration. no to mention the great work.
dont see a lot of people using the bosch tools on videos.
great to see someone using them

Justin Stephen

The use of the Bosch tools wasn't the only thing that reminded me of Bosch. The video was pretty much a condensed version of how Trent Bosch teaches hollow form turning, at least to my recollection.

Very good video.

Other than carving, what determines the wall thickness?

Bill Bukovec

I thought it was a very professional.

Since I have never done a HF, I have a few questions.

What were the outside diameter and the height?

How smooth is the inside? Do apply finish on the inside?

How much time does it take you to turn a HF like this one?
