cherry burl vase

Here's a cherry burl vase I turned from a friends tree. Before this he was burning them for fire wood, he thought they were useless until one of his friends who happened to be a pen turner told him how prized they were to us woodturners. It's about 1/4 in thick and 12 in. tall, I wanted the bottom to taper to a smaller diam. , but the wood cracked while drying so I had to make a larger base. Comments and Critiques are more than welcome. We used to work together 25yrs. ago and I just found out recently that he had moved up into my neck of the woods, and lived only 8 mi. away!
