I just picked up a Delta 43-419 Platinum Edition 3 HP shaper for $100. Came with Micro-Adjustable Fence, router bit collets, 3/4 spindle, and a 3/4 corragated knfe cutterhead. The tables are completely covered with rust, and the spindle is stuck. I got the spindle freed up and moves nice and free now. Motor and bearings sound fine, no unusual noises. It also came with the mobile base. I know no pictures it didn't happen. I will post them as soon as I figure out how.

Without photographic evidence, it's just an idle assertion. But, hypothetically, here is a place for everything Delta HD shaper:
http://ae-tool.com/

If you do need spindle bearings, and the bearings should be silky smooth, you can send them your cartridge and get it back in less than a week. It's cheap enough just to let them do it as a preventative maintenance on a used machine. This site service is operated by Richard at the OWWM site; very knowlegable and easy to work with. I'm pretty sure he cleaned up my pully while it was there also.

Richard is great to deal with, but I'm not sure if Richard handles the Platinum Edition spindle cartridges, they are different than the older HD spindle cartridges.

I was tempted to give you a "you suck" response, ut I'll wait for the photographic evidence. I've been prowling for a Delta shaper for years, congrats!

You may be right, but before I plopped down big money to Delta for anything, I would give Richard an email. His knowledge on these smaller shapers is a real asset to woodworkers. Also, it's my opinion that you want the spindle bearings to be silky smooth because it effects the cut quality. So what is good enough for a bearing for your lawn tractor won't really cut it for your shaper. These bearings are none too large, and they have a hard job to do. Even a small shaper cutter can take a big bite of wood.

One more shaper comment: THINK SAFETY ON EVERY SETUP AND EVERY CUT.

Finally got the pictures uploaded. You can see from the Sliding Shaper Jig and the 1 Table I have left to clean how bad it actually was. Not only were the tables all rusted the cabinet was filled with sawdust when I picked it up. It cleaned up pretty good though. Now all I need to do is find another feeder to go with my second shaper. They're starting to multiply like my routers.
