would like to use food coloring to dye some wood used in a cheese board. any hints on how to go about using it? dilution rate etc. thank you :confused::confused:

I'm not sure how much to dilute, but I do remember reading that you should add a bit of white vinegar to the mix as this will help fix the color to the wood.

Steve Schlumpf was a big help to me on this issue of dying with food colors. He has a thread on this that he sent me.....I had to go back and locate it. Hope this helps you as much as it did me!

I've used food coloring straight from the bottle for pens with a CA finish over the top, but I'm not sure I'd use if for a serving piece. You may be happier with something like transtint, as the aniline dyes are more color fast.
