I don't even know if it's a hardwood, but has anyone ever turned any Redbud? My Father-in-Law has a stump of one left in his yard that he had to take down earlier this year.
I'm looking at wood with a lustful eye. It's over isn't it?

Really nice wood if it is still solid and green. the stuff has a unique color--yellow to chartruce green. cracks easily--should take all prcautions.

Turns well and cracks even better! I like turning redbud, but I've lost a few to cracks.
Yes, it's over! Congrats!

This will give you an idea of how it looks when turned with the pith centered. And it will crack as mentioned, but they can be filled....sometimes. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?161900-Red-Bud-HF&highlight=

Don't know about the wood, but you're toast for sure!

Yeah, I figured I was a gonner. This slope is more $lippery than fly fishing..
Richard,
That is a gorgeous piece. The stump in question isn't cured. It definitely will be a foot shorter by the end of the week.
