Confederate "BURLS"

Well, another day working the Confederate Cemetary and a nice score today on Oak burls. This tree was also brought down by the storm and was said to be well over 100yrs. old and brought down a few headstones in the process. It is covered in burls and I hope to work with alot of them and share some also. Right now I have 13 of them and hopefully get a few more tomorrow.

Jerry, it was far enough to be missed but some wasn't so lucky. I think it got 3 stones and broke one. I have all the burls sealed,signed,dated and ready to work.

be carefull with those. they arent all burls. many of those are just where a branch was cut and it healed over. still nice grain, but there can be very soft dead wood just under the surface. which can make mounting it a little tricky or unsafe. great score though
