I will try this again as the last photos did not open although they showed just fine on my computer.

The wood used is ancient kauri which is 45,000 years old and has been retrieved from swamps in the north of New Zealand. The boxes are all made as a bandsawn box with the first 4 being finished with lacquer and the 5th box being oiled .... all drawers are finished inside with flocking.

I have been making these, and other items for the past 16 years and selling them through retail outlets in New Zealand and have made something in excess of 2500 of them ... there is no magic left in them for me!! During the winter period when it gets a little quieter I generally manage to take on a project or two to get the brain cells working again hence an earlier posting on rockers.

Cheers,

Rhys

Beautiful work Rhys. The kauri is interesting, it looks very dense.

I removed your duplicate thread that was missing the pictures.

Absolutely beautiful. Love the little fish on the last one, very creative.
