Aluminum Stanley tote.

I found a aluminum Stanley tote today at an Antique Mall for $6. Did a little research on-line. Looks like it was only sold as an accessory to schools????

Anyone know some info on this as to date of Mfg or ?????

Was told it was a rare item (as everything being sold is) Is this true?

Any idea if the tote was painted when new. If so, what color?

Kinda like to paint it but if it's rare, should I?

They are not too rare. The last one to sell on *-bay went for $17, so you did pretty good at picking it up for $6. I have 5 in my shop right now from a recent school purchase, so I think they were used pretty heavy by schools. One of mine is painted black. Looks pretty good.

I think they are only rare for the #1 and #2 size planes.
