I am looking at chucks and would like to hear your opinion on which one is best for bowls.

I will need a 1" 12TPI insert for my lathe.

Thank you.

While I'm a novice turner, I think any of the Oneways are a good starting place. I have two and am happy with both. You get what you pay for.

Lets see---the lasted greatest thing----Vac Chucks
The next would be Oneway ----SuperNova Teknatool---Virmac----Called Jaw chucks
I would guess the safest would still be just a plain old faceplate.
A lot depends on how big you are turning and how big of a lathe you have.

I use the Oneway Talon for nearly everything, including bowls and love it. very strong holding power, great wood screw (and clamping of the screw) and very easy to use.
I have a review of it with photos and more on the featueres at the link below.
