Sawmill Creek.....reminds me of the old sawmill that was located in the far northern Missouri town that my parents grew up in.
Down by the river(really a wide creek) there it sat....a big old circular sawmill, with a half a dozen men working. I used to love to walk down there and sit for hours as they ran the logs thru that big ole spinning blade. I can still smell the fresh cut woods as I type this. I never knew for sure what they were cutting, but the individual trees had their own distinct smells and I quickly can to anticipate the smell as I saw the logs placed on the large deck to be cut. Everytime I cut a piece of wood today, I still recall those afternoons down by the river as kid. Wood has been in my blodd for a long time as I look back on my life and is still a great source of enjoyment, whether I am making something or just ripping a 2x4 :-)
