Last month a fellow turner and I were able to cut down a dead Persimmon tree and what turned out to be a Black Cherry tree that was in danger of falling due to a hollow center on the property of my boss and her husband.

This bowl is from the Persimmon and I am giving it to the property owner tomorrow - as a belated Birthday gift and thank you. I had to use quite a bit of CA glue near the edge and a little coffee grounds as the wood was very porous near the center of the tree.

It is 9" x 3", finished with Walnut Oil, Shellac and WOP.

C&C welcome.

Some nice grain in that wood, Kelvin, and it has great form. Looks like you got to it just in time - the decay was setting in pretty good.

Kelvin, Nice looking bowl and the wood is cool looking with the darker spalted/rotted areas. Some poor guy used to make golf clubs out of that stuff.
