Turning fresh cut Red Oak will cause your lathe to rust----FAST

Friday we went to fetch a Walnut log that turned out to be ant infested. In a effort to not waste the outting we came home with a nice big Red Oak log that had fallen a couple weeks ago in a storm.

I like the wood but the tanic acid is a real bummer.
Turned this today-----stands about 13 inchs and 11 around the mid section.

Remember Lemon Juice will get all that black stuff off you and the tools. It neutralizes the tanic acid. Nice job on the hollow form.
