I'm in the process of making a country blanket chest from an old Woodsmith plan. So old they no longer carry the hardware that normally is offered. Therefore I'm looking for a lock and key that was similar to the original. The key hole has to be at least 1" from the top the lock. Since it is a full mortise type it also needs to be no more than 5/8" thick and I don't really care how deep I have to mortise.
I'm desperate to find something. I've ordered two already, one from Rockler and one from Lee Valley. Both were found to have the key holes 3/4" from the top this will not work because there is a trim around the top edge which protrudes from the front of the chest keeping me from putting an escutcheon flat over the key hole. I wish I had a camera.
Can someone direct me to a supplier which you think may be of value? I would most certainly appreciate it. I'm finished with it except for that elusive lock. Needless to say it was a lot of work to get this far. I'm so close http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowupset.gif
