Shag Bark Hickory----fresh off the Lathe.
If you ever want to turn some really hardwood---this is it.
No finish---just wipped down with a coat of Homebrew Oil.

I'm not doubting that one iota!! That's a monster of a hf, and I like the character on the outside.
What did you use to hollow that beast, if I might ask? I'm guessing something at least 1 1/4" diameter.

I build my Boring Bars----------the trick is coming up with a better cutter than what they sell online.

Karl, If you want something REALLY hard to turn come on up to my shop. I still have a couple of blocks of Walnut from beams that came out of an old delapidated barn that was build probably 100 to 150 years ago. Man-o-man-o-chevits:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: You want to talk about something hard. It was like turning a brick.
