Another piece that I roughed out a few years ago and am just now getting around to finishing. I think the dust was thicker than the wood on this piece! Anyway, the wood is some of the prettiest I've seen in my shop in a while. It gives a very different look from each side, so I'm including a few shots.

Mark, I really like the form of this one. The curve is graceful and appears to continue fluidly the entire way around the form. I love the poplar, the grain is fantastic, and your piece shows off it's character. I bet your glad you got around to finish turning this one! I like the rim treatment too. I can't wait to see what you dig out next ;)

Mark, shop cleanout is a good thing!! You have certainly found some treasures and this one is no different. Beautiful piece, with a lot of character.

I don't see much silver poplar around here, but growing up we had some. Pretty invasive species that is difficult to get rid of. But, apparently, the wood is good for something!

Pretty invasive species that is difficult to get rid of.

They are the same here. A mature tree will try to take over a yard with all the "offspring" it produces. They do, however, have pretty leaves and make good shade.

Great classic shape Mark, really shows the character of the wood. That rim treatment is a nice visual too!

Great form Mark! I see what you mean about needing additional photos to show off the grain! Sure is some pretty stuff!
