I was fortunate to attend the Russ Fairfield Memorial tool sale last April and picked up a few items. The prices were more than fair and it seemed like all that attended were happy to get something of Russ' that they could use or just wanted a keepsake.

I ended up with Russ' 5/8" Sweazy bowl gouge and after changing the handle and grind to my own liking, I am more than pleased. Getting it up and running has added a little fun to the not always fun prepping of next winters bowl blanks. Thank you Russ!

Hayes,

I know you'll like that gouge, maybe Russ is looking over your shoulder as well. And I know that his gouge didn't use up all of it's mojo, plenty more for you.

Great story, thanks.

Congrats on getting a small piece of turning history! Looks like you are putting it to good use - which is as it should be! Have fun!

I think I would put that one up for the "cool factor" if nothing else. Nice tool and great story.

Cool story, Hayes. I'd use it up then hang on to the nubbin.
