I ordered some burls from Mike Smith and they arrived today. I have 4 Big Leaf maple burls, 1 white oak burl and 2 spalted maple burls. I have no idea what I'm doing but here goes. I'll post pictures as I go. I'm excited now.

Ed, I am drooling!! Love burls - and I don't even want to think of how many I have bought from Mike!! The 4th from the left would make a very nice pitcher form, since it has a "high side" - just a thought!

Burls will ruin you emotionally and financially...I'm very sorry to hear this.

The only responsible thing I can suggest is that you send them to those lost souls who can not look at otherwise plain woods anymore and not wish they were burls too. I will step up and help if need be...I'm just that way about helping folks!

Good luck and have fun!!! :p

John,
How big is your tea pot? I think that is a great suggestion. That burl is only about 5" tall so it would have to be small. I'll see what I can do.

Harvey,
I will. I already took one of them and turned is into a cylinder so I could see the inside. I absolutely couldn't wait! I'm excited about the possibilities.

Oooo... sweeeet!!! Burls! The only thing I don't like about burls is that I feel like such a schmuck when I screw one up!
