I've worn out the On/Off switch on my Jet 1236 lathe. It turns Off ok but it will not stay engaged in the On position. I've checked the borg stores and don't see a suitable replacement. Where can I get one to replace what I have. The motor is 110volt single phase.

The switch on my old Delta lathe wore out and I replaced it with a Rockler switch like this:

I'm sure there are other switches available that would work too.

Hey Paul...if this is your lathe... http://www.ereplacementparts.com/jet-jwl1236-wood-working-lathe-parts-c-32652_32854_129617.html see part number 57. $13. You can probably get direct from Jet too.

Paul,

I bought a replacement direct from Jet for my Jet VS Mini. The price wasn't horrific and I had it in a few days. However, if there is a current rating for the switch on the side of the switch, you might well find a useable replacement at your local Ace Hardware or....a local music shop that repairs amplifiers.

I've worn out two switches on my Jet 1220vs, and have been unable to find a replacement locally. Tried hardware stores, auto parts stores and even radio shack. So I just ordered new ones from Jet and always keep a spare around. I turn my lathe off and on a lot so the worn out switches aren't all that surprising to me.

Also look into electronic supply places, my local Ace didn't have any. My original switch on my Jet mini (yes, I do have a little lathe), was bad from the start, and rated for 220 current. Took it to a supply place and they had one that works great. Have motor specs and voltage info handy if you don't know it by heart. Radio Shack may have them as well.
