This is something a little different. Took a two-by "solid" piece of Walnut and glued a segmented ring to it to make this one. It was hollowed, sanded to 600 grit and finished with four coats of Clear Gloss WOP on the inside before glue up.

Bill, this one really gives me some ideas!!! As I have stated, I am not all that entralled with the segmented pieces, but this one I really like.

The contrast of the two woods is very nice.

I'm with Mr. Keeton on not favoring segmented pieces that much...but I like this because it's not "too" segmented and it gives a really nice flow instead of the choppiness of many segmented pieces.

Looks really great, Bill! The only concern I would have is the movement of the bottom piece. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Other than that, it looks fantastic!

I had that in mind when I put it together. But I thought, maybe, since all the wood used is kiln dried (moisture less than 7%) and if I purposely cut the walls thin, then, perhaps it will survive. Time will tell.
