Here are a few of the latest bowls I've finished up.
This is the first of the form I've been stuck on this spring to get finished. It is silver maple 10" tall.

This is another piece of the redwood burl I got off Mike smith. It is also right at 10" high.

And another redwood burl piece from Mike. It is around 6" high

wow - that is some spectacular grain in those pieces. The third is my favorite, but that was a hard choice. Nice job on all of them.

Very nice pieces! I especially like piece of silver maple, the form and the finish make it look wonderful.

And of course the redwood is great. I got a chunk of it from Mike on my last visit to his place that I've yet to turn....maybe I'll pay him a visit next week and pick up some burl (among who knows how much other stuff).

Jack, these really finished out beautifully! That silver maple is stunning, and the redwood burl (3rd pic) really developed some nice color and the figure justs jumps from it. It looked good before finishing, but it is really, really nice now. Well done!

Not an ugly one in the bunch! I like all of them, but I'm particularly struck by the figure in the first and third pieces... WOW! Thanks for sharing.

All are great forms with a nice finish but the ambrosia box with its not quite straight grain really appeals to me! Happy accident or did you orient it slightly offline to get that affect?

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. I'm pleased with how the first form has turned out. I'm going to put a dried arrangement into it soon. I have one more piece of the redwood roughed out and dry. I'm looking forward to getting time to finish it soon. The box is turned from some scrap that I got when I cut the corners off a blank. I'm also stuck on this shape for my boxes the few that I make. I call it Three Mile Island because they remind me of a reactor. I did it as a demo for one of my high school classes. It is finished with one coat of walnut oil since that is the main finish I use at school for with my students. The shop is just to dusty to use anything else with much success.
Turn Safe,
Jack
