I discovered that the plane blade on my new LV LA Block Plane had a manufacturing defect when I started to sharpen it for the first time on my Tormek. The cutting edge was not perpendicular to the sides of the plane. I sent LV an email.
They responded within a few hours of my sending the note. I got an email and they called and left word with my wife that they were sending me a new plane blade. They assured me that they would check the bevel and position of the cutting edge prior to sending it. They informed me that I did not need to worry about returning the defective one.
This is about the fastest, most generous treatment I can remember being the beneficiary of, outstanding. I wanted all my new friends here to know that there is still at least one company out there with a real customer service department.
