This little hf is from the other half of the Ambrosia Maple chunk that John K sent me (thanks again John!). It's about 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" with walls just under 1/8". I really worked to get a smooth finish on the inside and I think its my best inside surface so far. I managed to get a decent pic of the inside, no sanding at all on the inside.
The first set of pics is bare wood, sanded to 800 and wiped clean with a soft cloth.
The second set is with a very light coat of BLO.

Very nicely done, Kathy. If you wouldn't have included the dimensions, I would have guessed double the size:)

Kathy, this "grey" ambrosia maple (silver maple, as I recall) is some of the nicest wood to turn I have experienced. It cuts clean, and sands wonderfully. You did a fantastic job on the interior surface, and the BLO really brings this wood to life. It will get even better with time, or an application of WOP.

Excellent form, too!

Is blo foodsafe
Nope.

Nice looking piece Kathy! Great job on the interior. I know the satisfaction that is felt when that goes particularly well. Nice form too! :)

Raw linseed oil is, I believe...but not BLO. It has added drying agents in it that aren't good for us.

Very nice work Kathy! I really like the form on this! The inside surface shows that you are really getting the tool control down! Very nice work on that!

Great looking piece Kathy. Ambrosia Maple is one of my favorite woods. If there is a lot of figure I just leave the piece alone with a lot less work.
