These are a couple of clunky (a little less than 1/2" thick) salad bowls made out of some cherry that has been sitting around for a couple of years. I'd much rather turn it green, but they came out OK. Finish is Mahoney's Utility Finish (walnut oil) and beeswax. Thanks for looking.

The first is 9" x 4.75"
196707

The second is 12" x 6.5"
196709
As an experiment, I stepped the bottom on this one to match the relief on the rim.

Hey Ted, these don't look clunky for salad bowls. You want a little beafier, imo. I like the second one the most, and the reliefs look like they'd make it easier to handle. Well done and nice finish.

Very nice Ted. I really like the stepped rims and bottom. It really adds to a common form. Nice Job. Ive always like the collr of Cherry wood.

Good looking bowls! The wood looks aged already - great coloring!

Good, clean detailing on these, Ted! Love the wood, and I like the stepped bottom with the band on the second one.

I thought I had commented earlier on these, but apparently not... Nicely done on these bowls, Ted. I prefer the more continuous curve on the second one, but I'd proudly display either. Gorgeous wood, too!

Both bowls are really nice. I'm a fan of the hefty bowls, they feel 'substantial' to me when I hold them. But I mostly like what you've done with the stepped base. I think that looks really good.

Nothing better than a beefy cherry salad bowl Ted...well done on the little details!

Guys, Thanks for the encouragement. I like the stepped bottom. It kind of reminds me of crown molding on the base.
