My son and I share the same birthday and I was looking for something that appeals to his cooking talents. A fellow woodworker does knife sales at a local knife show and brought this one back from Alaska. I've had the maple for probably 20 years and was waiting for something appropriate. Simply double face tape it to a 4" face plate and turned the bowl into it. Finish is a couple coats of Formby's I kept it design free so it wouldn't collect any bacteria in the groves (at least till he cuts into the birds eye :eek:). He liked it and thats really all I cared about.

Bob - the set looks great! What are the dimensions of the board? Looks to be pretty good size! Sure is some pretty birdseye!

Very nice. That's a cool, big looking hunk of birds eye.

Quite a beautiful set. Almost criminal to use it. Nice gift and nicely done.

I'd have trouble doing the ulu thing on that piece of wood! Gorgeous stuff.
