A similar box to what I made for a former student, I made this one for my sister in law.
but I used some really nice walnut for this one.
the top is really a nice piece of wood.

i micro sanded it to 32000 and then a couple coats of Watco Danish.

Well, I don't like that plant. There, that's all I could come up with. That's a great looking box! Well done.

Beautiful wood with a really nice finish and the craftsmanship looks first rate. The base seems a bit too massive for the box to my eye. I did a quick Photoshop morph where I made the box look about twice as tall and added a thin transition between the box and the base. In my opinion this looks more in balanced.

Wayne, very interesting.
Actually the very first one I made (which I never finished) was about that tall, and I didn't like it so I just left it unfinished and made the 2 other ones with a "shorter" box.

And I think I posted this box twice !! damn, what a dumb a** !!
