She wanted purple so it's purple. I tried to thin out everything and it's an improvement but it's still too fat when I look at it finished. C&C welcome. Thanks for looking.

You won't see me giving you a bad grade. That's stunning. Love the way you used the contrasting woods. Nice!

Very nice. What are the dimensions? Nothing to sneeze at there. Your wife ought to be very happy.

Roland,
The form is about 6 1/2" in diameter by 10" tall. The bowl is maple, the lid is quarter sawn oak and the finial and pedistal are cherry. Thanks for the compliments.

Ed, I see definite progress on this one! Very nice piece, and nothing quite as uplifting as an appreciative wife!

I really like this one, Ed. I think the proportions are good, and I love the coloring. The purple looks good, and I like the combo with the lighter natural wood and the black. Great job!

Ed - you didn't mentioned if your wife liked it!

If she did - then this piece is perfect! Great form, great color and the finial is to die for!

Is she didn't... then I don't understand because the form is really nice and the continuous curve works from the base to the tip of the final! Maybe she wanted more purple?

Looking forward to seeing where this takes you! Have fun!

This is very nice. I love purple and this has an interesting "semi circular" shape that gives it a surprising amount of "lift". Here's a few things I have learned:

1) If your wife likes it, it's good.
2) Never look at it after it's done.
3) Save it for one year. Then compare it to what you are doing then.

I like your form a lot..........very nicely done. Conceptually this is a great piece. I am not in Steve's camp about the finial......the abrupt transition near the bottom IMO would have looked better with a curve..........but that is why we all have different tastes......you have done a great job with this, and no faults here, just a difference of interpretation on finial form.......overall, I really like it a bunch..........

Truly nice work, Ed........really!

I love the color and I love the overall form. This piece is just plain cool to look at. As far as it being too fat...well, I dunno. Although you have material that could have been taken off, the proportions look good here. Nicely done sir. :)
