For those of you that don't stop into the instrument forum. I have always wanted to make instruments, even though I really don't play. I took Piano lessons as a kid and guitar lessons as a teen but neither stuck. I decided a Ukulele would be a good place to get my feet wet and it might motivate me to learn to play, and its the right size to bring along to the beach and such places.
Anyway let me know what you think... It sounds pretty good as well, now I need to learn a few songs.

The materials are Cherry and purpleheart.

Nice job. Was it a kit?

Nope, This was built from scratch. I did use the plans from http://www.wsukes.com/plans.html

Great work! Looks like a lot of work just getting all the materials and pieces needed.

Did you bend the sides using a heated pipe?

If so, what size pipe and what did you use as a heat source?

I made a mountain dulcimer a few years ago. I couldn't believe how much fun it was.

Bill, yes I used a heated pipe. It was a piece of a fence post that was out back... I think it is 2-5/8"
I used a propane torch to heat the pipe.

I actually am working on a concert size Ukulele right now... after that I guess it is on to tenor and baritone...
