No way. This guy/gal is obviously very well fed, eating a host of other pests around the shop. Outside of dangerous spiders, such as brown recluse and black widow, they are beneficial creatures to have around.

I just saw one close to that big this morning. I was surprised because we don't usually see much besides daddy long-legs.

Any idea what type of spider that is Jim?

I have a few of those around and as you say they do take care of a lot of bugs in the shop.
Now I have a few of these that show up now and then and I will have to say they don't last that long.

Looks like a wolf spider, jim. If you want to play games and touch the wall behind them (if you haven't seen them move yet), they can boogie. Definitely one of the coolest "bugs" in this part of the country.

I saw one of those at the shooting range this weekend...about twice the size though. For some reason it decided it was a good idea to go walking across the range at 10 yards. I wasn't sure exactly what it was, only that it wasn't a brown recluse or black widow, so I let it go about its merry way, but it was a little odd to see such a big spider in this area.

If you flip it over - does it wear a name tag?

Before reading, I assumed you had a horse in your shop:)

I need the cat w/machine gun PRONTO! :D

A skunk decided to hole up under my shed and this is the time of year for them to have litters, too! :(

Skunks eat a lot of bugs, too, but if only you didn't smell them first!

Spiders are just as valuable as snakes....

I love spiders but snakes ..... uhm ... well.... let's just say that I let them live around the foundation of my house, but I still don't like them that much.
