This is a salad bowl set I made for a friend. The bowls are cherry. The larger bowl is 13 1/2' diameter and 5" deep. The small bowls are 6 1/4 diameter and 2" deep. It took a while to complete the set because I messed up two of the small bowl roughouts and had to make and dry two more. The bowls messed up were just not fit as salad bowls, but they will be useable for something else.

Man, that's a sweet gift! The largest bowl is a perfect size for salads. How'd you finish them?... They're nice and shiny.

They are finished with General Finishes Salad Bowl Finish, the buffed and waxed. I am not sure if I should have waxed them.

Maybe I should go do it now.

Beautiful set. I have some walnut that I have been thinking of turning into a salad set. You've inspired me to get the project started.
Thanks.

Salad, soup...stew...I'd eat almost anything out of those...I'd say anything but Hart finished off the ice cream :(:p

Thanks for all the compliments. He really liked the bowls - they are a gift for his better half.

I have really fallen in love with cherry, especially for bowls. The run of the mill cherry has a lot more character than the run of the mill maple or any of the other common hardwoods in the UP. Now, ash would be very nice, but I dont have a good source...yet.
