This may not be new news but I figured out a way to reclaim a zero clearance insert - two part epoxy! I have a walnut insert for my table saw that I made a while ago and the slot is getting too wide. I was going to make a new one and then it hit me. Why not fill the gap with epoxy and recut the slot? I did and it worked beautifully. I waited to post this idea to see if the epoxy would hold up during actual use. I's been about a month and the slot is as crisp as it was when I first cut it.
To do it, I put a piece of waxed paper on my table, turned the insert upside down and clamped it down. Then I added the epoxy. The epoxy self leveled and in 24 hours I had a very hard new surface. Just thought I would pass this along.
