With the wonderful economy, I barely covered cost at Kentucky crafted this year and this piece is the one that put me over the top (thank goodness). It ended up in Beaverton Oregon.

I call it Fraternal twins since both bowls are from the same piece of maple burl but individually different, different shapes, different finials - which are walnut. The lids are a piece of maple burl that I cut off before making the bowls. The base is walnut bent lamination. Finish is Walnut oil.

Each bowl is approximately 5" in diameter.

Toney, so good to see you posting your work again! This is a great piece, and I love the base - very nice flow. I wondered how the show went for you. I was just juried into the KY Arts Council and have thought about doing the Market next year. Hopefully, things recover a bit and make it more feasible. There has always been a good crowd there in past years, and I am sorry I was not able to make this one to see your work. We did talk about it - just didn't come together for us.

I like this... it's very cool. I'm not completely sold on the dissimilar finials but, obviously, someone was!

Very neat! Great stand and hf's though I have to agree with David on the finial shapes. Everything else seems to flow together nicely.

Toney, let my wife see your work, you'll have no trouble making costs... It's beautiful! Shows are slow, if not one thing it's another there is always a reason. Good Job!

Wow. I did a NE bowl that could be a twin. Never thought to take it to such an incredible level as you have done here. Great job.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on the piece. In regards to the finials, I did not think that identical finials would be appropriate when my premise for the piece was fraternal twins. Maybe I could have done matching finials since fraternal twins might have the same eye color. Or maybe I should have done similar finials with slight differences such as size. Always something to contemplate.

Also thanks to those who commented about me posting again. I am surprised that I was missed.
