While at work today I spotted this "NICE" Ambrosia Maple and had to bring some home. I could only fit three pieces in the truck. It's 20" x 3ft long. After I got it home I could not wait to see what was inside so I grabbed my "New" Sthil with my 20" bar and worked with it for about 45min. and could not get it to hit a lick. I was wore out before I got started. I wanted to throw it across the yard but I thought how expensive it was and decided to try my 14" Husky. After 4-5 pulls it fired right up. The bad thing about this is my bar will not go through the log. After more cutting than I wanted this is what I came up with. I'm going to try my Sthil again tomorrow and it better start. Wood(Nice), Sthil(not so sure)..

When I first got my Stihl, I flooded it the first time I tried to start it.

The dealer said they flood easy.

You may need to remove the spark plug and ensure it"s not wet.

That's the last time it failed to start for me.

Good Luck,

Bill

Good on wood, bummer on new toy. I have an old el cheapo 18" that I don't use enough to familiarize myself with it's idiosyncracies..... over prime..under prime... You'll get it!

Wow!! Some piece of wood. Hope the saw works better tomorrow. I had my Stihl for twenty years and never had that trouble. Great saws.

Ohhh, I love ambrosia maple, you have a real treasure there. I've had Stihl saws for 20 yrs now and never have had a problem with starting, maybe you got a bad batch of gas.
