My friend Scott Fles and I entered our segmented turning of a balloon titled "Up Up and Away" in a juried art show. Not only did we get in , but we also won the " Ron DenBroder Memorial Woodturning Award.:):):)195578

Thanks for all the nice comments. It truly is great to be recognized like this. There are more pictures in another thread. I just don't know how to link to it. Scott and I are planning our next project together also. Want to try some different patterns. Who knows what we'll come up with.

Congratulations John and Scott. When I first saw this piece the other day, I thought...how can they Not get into the show. Winning an award for that piece just seemed natural. :)

We are going to try to enter the balloon in ArtPrize in the fall. That is an art show spread throughout downtown Grand Rapids. We are also starting to toss around ideas for next year art festival and art prize. When working with someone else it takes longer to get done as you can't just go out any time you want to work on it. But I don't think we will ever quit working together as this has been some of the most enjoyable turning I have ever done.

Now if we can only sell he balloon. Neither one of us really has a place for it. That's the problem with doing larger turnings.
