This was a piece that was cored from a lager blank that had a large feathered crotch. Not much in this one other that the knot somehow did not crack. I beaded the rim and the foot with a 3/8" spindle gouge. Finish is 3 coats of Forby's Tung Oil. It will be used as a salad bowl.

Well done, Bob!! I like the detailing on the foot (also like the foot!!) and the rim. Hard to beat cherry for a beautiful piece.

I have to agree...very nice piece of cherry here. Almost too good to eat out of. : )

The beads around the rim really make it stand out. Good work!

Pretty bowl! Beautiful Cherry and I was amazed to see that neither of the knots had checks! Must be a sign...

Nice work! Looking forward to seeing what's next!

The details add a nice touch to this piece. Cherry is a nice wood to turn.

I like this a whole bunch. Beautiful cleanly turned useful bowl. Your details are sharp! I don't believe I have seen rim beads on the inside of a bowl very often..I like that. A#1!

Really elegant. I aspire to that kind of delicate foot and precise beading. Beautiful

Wow- beautiful job. I love cherry. The beaded rim is nicely done but in my opinion not needed as the shape and wood itself is awesome.

Beauty!!! Very nice. Although, I think that, instead of filling it with leaves and vinegar....perhaps a gallon of Pralines and Cream with Chocolate syrup....a half a can of Redi-Whip...two great big spoons....a fun movie.....oh..and cherries....don't forget the cherries!!

Really nice, Bob, and you must have a magic touch to dry that without cracks. Way to go!

Thanks to all. Your comments are greatly appreciated. The many positive words from the fellow turners here at Sawmill are very nice to hear, but there are so many wonderful turnings I just am glad to be a participant in a great forum
