I got my Kobra system Tuesday of this week. The quality of this tool is top shelf, but I still wasn't sure on how I would like it since I have been hollowing free hand to this point. I had used a home made Jamison a friend had and just never got to where I liked to hollow with it. I like tucking the handle under my arm and controlling the cut with my body and just didn't see any other captive system on the market that would allow me to do this except the Kobra. First off I would like to say it has been great dealing with Al and Jerry on this unit. I got a chance today to try it out on a piece of maple. I was able to hollow it out by tucking the handle under my arm as I do free hand. I hollowed this vase out 10 1/2" deep with zero flex or chatter. It is extremely smooth and easy to use. It is like free hand turning without any stress of holding the tool except to guide it. The lazer attachment is great and very easy to adjust and lock into place. The goal post tool support is made with a 1'" hardened drill rod as is the boring bar so they do not flex and also should remain as slick as they are for many years to come. I have no doubt that this system will hollow as deep as I ever want it to go.

Jack, I picked up one of these a couple years ago and never looked back. Simply a marvelously engineered system with no slop, and did I say smoooooooooth?! I use mine with the Kobra bar as well as John Jordans.

Jack,

Thanks for the report. I have a friend that is sooooo close to ordering one. I'm going to forward this post to him and push him over the edge.

Of course if he gets one, then I'll need one too!
