OooooHHH ieee!!!! This stuff is hard on a chainsaw:) I cant wait to cut into the 1400lb whole burl too. Good thing for heavy machinery or I would have to rent a team of mules:)

That is impressive. Looking forward to seeing what you turn out of that chunk you are holding. Looks like a lot of chain dulling dirt on the base.

Cory,

Nice huge burl. I like the length of your bar on your saw. What saw is it and how long is the bar?

Rich, it is a 1991 288xp Husky 8hp. 36in bar and chain sharpened to 15 degrees for horizontal cutting, works well for hard cutting I use a 24in on it too, but find myself using the 36in more, Ive had alot of sizable burl lately.

Good grief! I'd normally say, "You suck!", but I know you're willing to share that stuff with the rest of us... For a price, of course!:D

I'm guessing that's black ash burl. I think it would be interesting to see what you cut out of that piece. In other words, how many large and small blocks to do you create, and how much of it ends up as waste? A little photo tutorial of how you do it would be a great addition to the site. It seems like every few weeks there's a post about how to break down a burl, and you've probably got more experience chopping up burls than anybody else on the site.

Wow, what a find, I've never seen one that large. That should keep you busy for quite a while, you lucky dog you.

WOW, That's massive. You have a ton of bowls and other turnings form that thing. What kind of wood is it?

My back hurts just looking at the Husky, never mind the burl!! Nice gloat and curious as to what you end up with.

Should you care to part with any pen- or stopper-sized cutoffs, I'm all ears :)

It seems the "bar" is getting very high in the wood gloat category around here. Beautiful burl wood and yes I am totally envious.

Good looking burl! Great looking chainsaw! First one I've seen with an attitude! My first thoughts when seeing the burl were that you were gonna need a bigger lathe! Be safe!

2" slab of that would be nice for some turkey calls....
