Here are some turnings I just finished, they are for displaying flies. First one is cherry/blk.walnut,second-mahogany,third-cherry,fourth-teak,fifth-mahogany,sixth-maple burl,seventh-cherry/blk.walnut

Those are a great idea Jim! But don't the flys just keep buzzing around inside? :D;)

These are very nice, love that maple burl! And the design on the mahogany is my favorite.

Jim, I have a couple of Poul Jorgensen flies that would look purdy in one of those. Never thought about doing any of these domes for donations. Great turn and idea.

Great idea, but seems like you'd need a magnifying glass in there to see the flies we use for trout out here in the desert! Nice job - thanks for posting.

Nice job. I used to tie flies, and did a few shadow boxes, but these would be more fun.

They look great, Jim! I tend to hide my ties in a separate box. My late mentor, that got me started making nets, would use a large globe and do a display of realistic ties for the life cycle of a mayfly. He displayed them setting on artificial leaves, rocks and sticks, they made a great display and were auctioned off for fundraisers.
