I just made this handle this morning, after re-reading the excellent tutorials on the subject by Leif Hansen, http://www.norsewoodsmith.com/ww/chisels/handles.htm and Bob Smalser http://www.woodcentral.com/cgi-bin/readarticle.pl?dir=smalser&file=articles_447.shtml

Thanks guys! You both ROCK! :D :D :D :D

It's not really finished yet -- I need to get some leather so I can make the striking buttons -- but I thought I'd share it anyhow, 'cuz I'm pretty happy with this one. :)

See...its easy and they look great. I especially like woods that polish up well on the lathe and that don't require a finish. I have used Barge Cement to affix the leather washers with good results.

Tom,

You did a very good job. That will look even sweeter when you get the leather on it. Can you pm me with the info on the material you are using for the new handles?

Thanks!
John

Those cocobolo handles really look nice. When you get the leather washers in place, they'll look even better.

Tom,

Beautiful job on the handles. I can't wait to see that first completed set of chisels with such nice handles.
