Here is the piece I posted last week, but now it has about 6 coats of WOP on it, and has the foot/base that Dick W. suggested I do....I am really likeing the foot on it, it is just a hair over "1/4. The piece is approx "5 1/2 X "3 3/4, sanded to 600.

Tim - now that is a good looking hollow form! Good form but more than anything I really like how your finish brought the wood to life! Nice work!

Stunning piece of wood and a great finish! I'm stuck looking at these pics on my phone, so insert grain of salt here... I'd consider adjusting the curve on the lower part of the piece to accent the flow of the lower curve... That's a tiny little nit pick. All in all, it's a great looking piece! Kudos!

Love it. The finish is a perfect fit to the wood and form.

Ignore my previous suggestion... On a real monitor this form is just right to my eye. I should have known better than to comment based on a cell phone pic. Great looking piece!

Sweet! I love these "donut" shapes. I've attempted a couple of similar things and they ain't easy! The little flair at the top is a "bell ringer. The wood is delicious too.

Tim, that is beautiful. Someday I might get into hollow forms but right now I'm just happy to be able to hollow out something with a "big" mouth where I can see what I'm going.

Thank you everyone! Thanks go to John Keeton for sending me this beautiful piece of claro, And Dick Wilson for the foot suggestion.

@ Ed - This is my first official HF where everything was done through the hole. My others I used a larger hole to hollow, then added a collar and cut a smaller hole into it...they still look good, but this is the first official "tiny hole" HF.

The wood and finish are stunning. This also looks very difficult and way above my own abilities. In the spirit of constructive criticism, though, I offer this humble nit:

The form would feel a little more natural to me if it had more lift in the lower region. My eye wants it to take off vertically more from the base. That would make the whole form a little more delicate.

Please take that for what it's worth: just one data point from one untrained eye. I'm a fan.

The finish really brought out the beauty of the wood. Nice job Tim!

Very nice Tim. I love the looks of Claro, but we don't have it around here. The closest we have is black walnut that occationally has a bit of "vanilla" swirled in it. The finish looks great as well.
