I haven't visited this series in several years, so time to build some inventory before the next show. I don't have much trouble with people wanting to handle these pieces! Flower is Redheart with Honey Locust thorn, Environ base, 11"H

That is some SERIOUS attitude! If I met that in a dark alley some night, I'd just smile and hand over my ATM card!

I would hand over David's ATM card as well.

Very cool piece. Love the thorns!

Do not throw that at me!! DD will take it...here, take his card!
That is simple and cool...and simple did not go into the making of your piece!

The bulb is beautiful, but the stem is scary. Nice job bring the good and the bad into harmony.

A Rose Among Thorns! Great piece, Jamie! That stamen would be a real surprise to a honey bee!

"The bulb is beautiful..."

Don't you mean the "blub"?

SO, is this a black locust or a red locust thornRay, probably honey locust in central KY, although we have both honey and black locust. The thorn structure is different with black locust. I would add that if you get pricked/stuck with one of these thorns, it will fester quickly - nasty stuff to work with.

gruesome & hostile ..wouldn't sell in my gallery..but does in your area? How interesting.

Jamie, it seems like I have seen one or more of these before. Have a great turning weekend in the rain. Good excuse to stay in the shop and not at the golf course.
Nice How did you turn the thorns? HA! HA!

Neat idea and execution. It doesn't look too friendly though...

This is really cool, reminds me of something from a Tim Burton movie.
