My Friend gave me 'the ugliest' chunk of apple root burl.It dulled my tools every minute, even after cleaning off dirt and pebbles etc.I knew when the 'ventricles' started showing after outside and inside that it was destined to be a heart...Soooo, a heart doesn't have a pedestal, and the idea of a floating heart in a [skeleton if you would] was born.If you look at it straight on, it looks like it's floating[i hope]..but you all being the curious sort, i obliged to show you the back side. There is a tip i carved in some cedar that fits in a crack in the heart. The carved cedar is attached to a 'shoehorn' of alder on a skeleton of alder.Enjoy! Rob, very interesting work of art! I like the interior and the manner in which you completely finished the tip.

Cool idea and equally cool execution. I'll bet you enhance this on future stuff, and I want to be around when you do!!
Nice form on the heart!!

Pretty neat idea, Rob. Nothing 'ugly' about that piece of wood... It's got character!
