What type of wood is this?

My grandfather gave me an old stack of boards that he had in his barn for the past couple of decades (70 bf). I dont know all that much about different types of wood and would appreicate help in Indentifying what type of wood it is. Thanks.

These photos are pretty low resolution...I can't even tell if this is one board we're looking at or several that are butted. Some better photos would help, but so would other details. Is the grain straight or constantly reversing? Open or closed pored? Any idea where geographically it might have come from?
