Silver Solder and Carbide

This is not precisely a welding question, but close enough. I've used silver solder to repair, join bandsaw blades, attach HSS bits to mild steel, etc. My latest project is attaching a piece of carbide tooling to a piece of key stock. Will the SS work, or is this a brazing job?

SS will work fine that's what we used in the tool room in my other life.

I use SS to braze the carbide tips onto my sawmill blades (using an acytelene torch).

Silver solder is how most carbide is attached to the base metal in non-indexable tooling. It comes in a sheet form like shim stock but that is more a convenience thing then a requirement. In my past life mapp gas was the preferred method of heat but I don't recall why now. It's been 17 years and 1 or 2 afternoon naps since then. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
