...with a few pens. Here is the most colorful, the blank is called Ancient Mars, polyresin from Exotic Blanks, on an El Grande fountain pen. Looks kind of like a lava lamp. :) You know, you just can't have too many fountain pens.

Dan, that's a great looking pen. I've wanted to make a fountian pen for a while and that blank adds to the pen.

Dan, glad to see you back at it!! I am amazed at the vibrant colors in some of these pen blanks - this sure is vivid. Very nice look, though. The colors are deep and rich.

Also glad to see you back at the lathe again Dan. I really appreciate your sharing of that original story with the jointer...I think about that and others stories from the past year or so on SMC as I get ready to do anything with potential for harm...which is dang near everything!
Great looking pen, and welcome back!

Very nice! Hard to keep a good turner down, eh?

I love the resins that Dawn makes, and you've done a great job with this one.

Thanks for all the comments, feels good to be back on the bevel. Thought I'd start with things small and plastic, cleaner and less opportunity for mishaps.

As for the early post, it was a matter of being up late rather than up early, and actually not all that late for me, being more of a night owl than early bird. Then there is the time zone thing...

Roger, how is your finger doing?

glad to see that the jointer accident couldn't keep a good man down

Dan, I'm so glad to hear that you are getting back into the action, so to speak. I had a table saw accident about a year and a half ago that kept me away from turning for a while as well. I had to re-learn tool control, and re-handle all my tools to be able to grip them all! Sounds like your recovery is going more smoothly. I have to admit that I've been a bit afraid to use my 8" jointer since originally reading about your accident!! They can happen in the blink of an eye, no matter how careful you think you're being. Its great to hear about the recovery and not just the accident for a change!!

Roger, how is your finger doing? Dan

Thanks for asking Dan..........it is nearly healed over as far as the skin is concerned, but it does have a good bit of tenderness with it as of yet...........at least I can type now using it, but I have to lightly tap the keys.....:o:)

That is some awesome color. I can imagine whipping that out of your pocket and people putting on their sun glasses.
