I got my hands on about 10bf of this wild eucalyptus. Should make for a great segmented turning.

Beautiful stuff. I have a couple packs of Curly Eucalyptus Veneer a while back for $7.50 a pack... I think there were about 15-20 sheets per pack and the sheets were about 5"x24". I really like it. Still have quite a bit left.

That looks really nice.

One of my neighbors cut down a seeingly "regular" Eucalyptus tree and was chain sawing it up for disposal last weekend.

The trunk was over a foot in diameter.

I wanted to take some chunks for wood turning, but he said it would move too much when drying, crack and be useless...

Is there any merit to this? I know there's probably a bunch of species so maybe he was right.

There's no such thing as useless wood, Chris... some may end up in the firepit, but man, I'd certainly want to try. A foot diameter will make some nice cereal bowls.

Anchor seal the ends and put it in a back corner of your shop and forget about it for a couple years. If it does have cracks, fill them with epoxy and inlace nuggets or coffee & super glue. It'll add character to the piece.
