Ok, this was a bit too ironic. After viewing the posting from Jerry Kowalski, on similar to Scott Hackler's ... I discovered an amazingly close cousin to the unique turning posted by Curt Fuller at http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?165688-Oregon-Myrtle-Hollow-Form-with-a-How-I-do-it . Curt...I think I like your's better, wanna swap?

Mine is a piece of spalted maple that I almost let go to dust in an untreated, unprotected area next to 'good' wood piles. I did this a couple months ago, and applied several coats of WOP. The most amazing thing as I turned it was keeping the nub of the little branch that was coming out of the blank. You can see the base as the tip of the little appendage on the right side of the void.
Apologies for photo and hotspots...I've bought my stuff to do a photo tent...have been too busy to play with it.

C&C welcome.
