This one is similar to the one I posted end of last week. Rim is a little thinner and it has no foot. It a nice piece of wood, but the belly of the bowl is too wide. It has no foot so I was after a little broader base. I achieved that but at sacrificing some of the lift of the bowl. It is still a good user for salad and such, but not as pretty to look at. It is 16" wide and about 5 1/2" deep. Finish is 3 coats Forby's Oil wiped on and wiped off. No buff.

Hey Bob..........that is a great bowl! David Keller would be proud of you not having put on a foot! Although, he is coming around on that issue :D

Seriously, I do not think you sacrificed anything on this by not putting a foot on it, or by broadening the base area..........it gives the bowl more volume and that is pretty wood. Nice rim treatment as well.

This one has presence!

Bob, you turn a very clean bowl - good detailing on the rim and bottom, and clean toolwork. Great job! I like a footed bowl, but this one works, too.

I don't see any problems with the belly of the bowl. It has a great utilitarian shape. Heck of a popcorn bowl or even a salad bowl.

I love popcorn and buy the corn in 35# bags, but if I were to fill this bowl I think I'd need a lot of beverages and some good friends to empty it.:D:D

That's awesome, Bob. I don't think it needs anything... You get plenty of lift from the curve. Nicely done.

Bob that is a really nice bowl. I do like the simple form and finish. Rim treatment is great.

Bob, It looks just fine to me also! I love good old maple for user freindly utility type bowls, the grain in it has just enough interest to look nice but not so much that you would never want to use it.

Keep up the good work,

Jeff

Great bowl Bob and monster size!!! The rim bead is really cool...beading tool or the old fashioned way?

I like everything about this bowl. I like the way you did the 'no foot' bottom and I don't think it's too wide at all. But what I really like is the small bead around the rim. It's one of those little things that makes a big difference. Very nice bowl!

I see no weaknesses with the belly or otherwise. Nice rim treatment and very user friendly.

Very nice "user" bowl. Form is fine by my eye. I like the "super subtile" ogee shape and the rim is sweet. And it's big enough for at least two servings of popcorn! Not bad at all...
