View Full Version : Motor wiring confusion

I just picked up a new 3.7hp Kobalt air compressor from Lowes and it doesn't come with a cord. That's OK, but this motor has me confused on how to wire it.

It's a 230V single phase 15A motor. The wiring schematic shows line voltage going to #1 and #6 (see pic), but the connection inside the motor only has #2 to #6 posts (see other pic).

Where's #1? I also noticed nothing is on post #3.

You should not need to inside the motor you should hook your wires in the pressure switch.

Jerome...you are absolutely correct. When I salvaged the old compressor today, it was wired through the pressure switch. But, I never made the correlation.
thanks!
