Wood Gloat

Power company went a little nuts on a friend's property. He called asking what I want. I took 1 piece of mulberry crotch, a couple small pieces of maple, and the rest is walnut. Big one is 19" diameter.

I had to leave a lot more, I took maybe 5% of what's there. He'd very much prefer someone turn the wood than burn it. So it's free for the taking.

Nice gloat! Walnut that size is great material. I do see what looks like a stain from imbedded iron, watch out for nails. I found a 16d nail inside a small bowl recently, had to sharpen the gouge but the bowl survived.

Congrats on the wood! If you are running low on space - don't you have a roof? or a neighbor's yard? Has to be a way to save that walnut from becoming firewood!
